Ice Sculpture Instructional Class

This is a fun class with hands-on instruction provided by the team at Colorado Ice Works. Clear ice is a fascinating medium to sculpt. It is surprisingly soft to sculpt. Chisels and hand tools cut through it like a hot knife through butter. Like a perfectly cut diamond, clear ice reflects and refracts light with each bend, detail line or contour that is made.
Mono-Printing Technique Workshop with Internationally Renowned Artist and Author
Flora on the Gel Plate: a #PostConsumerWaste Art Project

In this 3-day workshop we will explore an age-old art technique of mono printing to capture the amazing details of flora on paper. Printing with wild abandon, there is a freedom in learning the basics and best practices for printing some amazing images using inspired color palettes and plant material to create your own very unique images.
Mar 6 – Apr 3, 2024 (5 Wednesdays)
Enjoy the satisfaction of working with clay – whether you’re a beginner, experienced or need a refresher from years ago. In this class you can hand-build using the extruder, slab roller and make pinch pots. You can also learn to use the wheel.
Drawing Grand Lake History
Mar 7 – Mar 28, 2024 (4 Thursdays)
Through the medium of drawing, we delve into the essence of Grand Lake’s heritage, using historic objects as our inspiration. Guided by experienced instructor Holly Sumner, students explore basic drawing techniques and composition, gaining insights into the stories woven into our local artifacts.
Woodturning 101 Workshop
Mar 15 & 16, 2024
Experience the timeless art of woodturning. Led by our Master Teacher and Woodworker, Dennis Fanning, you’ll discover the rich history of woodturning, dating back to 1300 BC in Egypt. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned woodworker, this all-inclusive program is designed for everyone, and no prior experience is necessary.

By registering for classes early, you can help the instructor and Rocky Mountain Folk School staff plan ahead. Some classes may be canceled if registration minimums are not met at least a week in advance.
