Learn the art of creating vibrant fabric appliqué as you design your own rose or iris on a faux suede background. In this workshop, you’ll trace floral designs onto fusible web, select fabrics in your favorite colors, and use simple ironing techniques to bring your flower to life.
Roses and irises appear in a wide range of natural colors, and you’ll have access to a variety of fabrics to personalize your piece. If you’d like, bring a photo of your favorite bloom, and we’ll work to match the shades as closely as possible.
All supplies needed for the project are included. A frame or hanger is not provided, allowing you to choose a display option that best complements your finished work.

Sheila McKay has been sewing, designing, and painting for years. Her love for silk painting comes from the mesmerizing way the dyes flow and blend on the hoop. She’s also a pattern designer and created a fabric line called Scandinavian Winter—see more of her work at www.mckaymanormusers.com. When not creating, she enjoys spending time with her grandkids, traveling, and capturing special moments through photography.
